Forster Bushing Bump Dies Question

I'm getting set up to load for .260 Remington and have been intrigued by the Forster bushing bump dies. Forster does not make them in .260 Rem, but I was wondering if I could purchase a .308 or .243 die body and the appropriate bushings for .260 - would this work?

I also load for a 7mm-08 and would set the headspace on the .260 with the same headspace guage, both are Savages). If I went this route, could I also purchase appropriate bushings for the 7mm-08 and use the bushing bump die body for both?

Thanks in advance for your comments and advice.

OK, I called Forster Products.

The said the opening at the top of the .243 die should be large enough to let a fired .260 case slip through. They said the smaller the opening, the better the die will "center up" on the case shoulder. They had not tried it.

I think, if the opening is large enough, I would rather have a small opening than a large one, like a .308) to get better contact between case shoulder and the die. So I'm going to order a .243 body and appropriate bushings and try it. I'll report back - it will be awhile - barrel is not due in until the end of Jan.

Here's an update for anyone interested.

Catshooter - Forster does not make this die body in 7mm-08 or I would have gone that route.

The 260 case will not fit through the top opening in a .243 bushing bump die body. I ended up having a local tool and die maker, also owner of our local shooting club) hone out the hole at the top for the neck to pass through to chamber diameter + 2/thousand. Work took 15 minutes and they didn't charge me.

Have not used the die yet.

Elkbane,or anyone that knows)--
Does the Forster bump die use proprietary Forster bushings, or can Redding/Wilson bushings be substituted? TIA
