how do I remove the expander ball,so I can deprime and only size the neck down to use Sinclair expander mandrel?and will there be resistance when using the expander mandrel?im using rcbs case lube, the dry graphite lube didn’t work

It unscrews off the shaft. If you damage it, they are replaceable and in various sizes. (I added the locknut to my die, not an original part)

Once you take out the expander ball are you planning to de cap using a different tool?
Also if I may ask do you experience case run out after using the die as is?

Edit- I believe you mentioned.001 on a previous post.
Just curious
Thx

actually i think the forster full length sizing die with expander ball is one of the best dies out there.

curious. how were you using the dry graphite lube?

what neck tension are you looking for. expander mandrels are made in .0005 increments. without the expander ball in a stock die with a standard expander you will definitely feel resistance.

you might want to measure a loaded round and have that die honed a couple of thousandths smaller.

My interest is with runout as I'm currently using a Forster neck sizer with the ball while forming cases to be sent to Harrell's.
things I encountered
1- the expander ball in my caliber is .2405 so that's acceptable one would think
2- I dip the case neck in dry rcbs lube after brushing with a spinning nylon brush to reduce some carbon prior to neck sizing , the lube I feel helps the sizeing
3- I'm not sure if I'm getting runout as I don't have a concentricity tool (yet) however the process goes smoothly
i was just wondering how much runout others were getting

well if you are loading for fireforming to order a harrells die you have no need to worry about runout. after firing and before any sizing your brass will be the most concentric it will ever be.

remember brass fired at least 3 times and nothing done to it after the last firing. no sizing of any kind before it is sent to harrells
