Forster 3 in 1 cutter

Thinking about getting one of these cutters,. What are the pro's and con's? Barlow

I have one for .223. Works well with the Forster stand and power attachment.
Makes a nice clean cut with no burrs and is accurate to boot. It will hold within a thousandth.
It's a bit slow in that you must secure the cartridge in the collet by tightening and loosening the collet by using the short handle.
I picked up the stand on E Bay for a much reduced price. Mount the stand on a board and you're
good to go.

I'm not a big fan of trimmers with pilots, any scoring inside the neck is a bad thing, save up for a Giraud

If you want to use it on the regular trimmer you will have to get a longer base.

I agreed with Cobra. But for something to get you by in the interim it's not bad or too expensive if you shop around. I do use a little Imperial Lube on the pilot when operating. And as a matter of fact I've just received my Giraud but haven't used it yet.
The .223 setup works on the regular length base.

I use the 3-in-1 for Dasher, .260 and .284. Works great. No scoring. I mount it up in a mini-lathe (that can be used for other things as well) and can run through a hundred in about 30 seconds. I made a bushing for each caliber, out of brass, that mounts in the tool holder. The bushing indexes off the shoulder so it's very repeatable.

now that is FAST

I admit I may have exaggerated... But certainly no more than 1 - 2 minutes. And with the Forster, that's inside chamfer, outside chamfer, and trim to length.

I use my 3-in-1 in the original Forster trimmer ,,,and that's still fast.
hint: my pilot was a tisch too large for my brass, so I simply turned it down a bit using light emery cloth.

works good for trimming the length but don't waste your time with the neck turning attachment. there are way better designs. have you considered the worlds finest trimmer? they seem foolproof.

I did check out the worlds best trimmer, and maybe it is. But it does not chamfer. I'm still mulling it over. Barlow

+ 1 On the three in one. I use it to trim 6 BRX and 6 Dasher brass.

+2 on the 3 in one. I got the portable drill adapter which makes it faster, and the cut seems smoother too. Love mine.
