Forming 243 from 308

Has anyone ever successfully tried to form 243 Win (or similar) brass using 308 Win Brass?
Any experiences would be appreciated.
Thanks

Piece of cake,

Pick up a cheap 7mm-08 FL sizing die. Run the 308 brass in the 7mm-08 die, then run it in your 243 FL sizing die. DONE. Turn necks if needed.

If your 243 FL sizer is a bushing type die, just get a .290" to .300" bushing to step down the 308 brass.

Remove the expander ball from your 308 FL sizer

Size 308
Then 7/08
then 260 if you are concerned
then 243-CAREFUL on how you set the headspace- you want good contact with the shoulder

I use Lee sizing wax as a lube-better than imperial

It will help to put a very heavy chamfer on the outside of the case mouth to aid in feeding into the sizing die

Easy does it on the initial contact with the next smallest die

anneal when you are done

Necks do not neck down with equal thickness on both sides, and necks may be very thick when you are done...don't assume anything

If you are necking down Lake City, you will be able to shoot hotter loads than with std rem or win brass, PMC std 243 brass is as tough if not tougher than Lapua for coyote rifles.

Do be sure to measure the thickness of your necks when done! When brass was more unavailable, I trasformed 400 pieces of Federal .308 to .243 and after MUCH neck turning, had wonderful brass.
