Forming 22br from 6br Lapua Brass

I am having problem crushing the neck when I run the 6br brass in the redding 22br FL sizing die. I lubed well and chamfered the case mouth inside and out.
Any advice is welcomed. This is my first attempt at forming 22br bras.

Run your brass through your seating die before your sizing die. If that does not work you can get a ^ BR bushing die and a bushing aroun .334 and run it through it befo. It re you run it through your seating die. I just took 100 round of 300 WSM brass down to 6 mm without loseing a single piece of brass it took me 6 different bushings to do it, but I have taken 6 PPC down to 22 cal by just useing the seating die.

Dean: You did not say if your FL die is a neck bushing die, as also asked by 22BRGUY. If it is, that's the problem.

The mouth of the larger diameter 6BR case will hit the .224" diameter bushing and will be instantly crushed. You must use a conventional 22BR sizing die, like the one made by Forster. Shown in the 2012-B Sinclair catalog, page 54, part# 749-004-832SE, at $36.95.

To prove my point, or if in doubt, take a 22 cal. bushing (any size) and set it on top of a 6mm case mouth.

If you do the "bushing" thing, do it after you've run your 6 BR brass through a "full length" 22 BR "non" bushing die. Works for me with very few problems. ;D

Same here as NorCalMikie, I just run them into a standard 22 BR die one time and shoot em up...
Set it up right, and you'll not have a problem crushing necks..

Works for me too only my first pass is through a seater die and use Imperial for lube

I am running these through a standard redding FL sizing die.I chamfered and lubed well but the two I tried crushed the neck down.

Dean: Tough to diagnose your problem on-line, but I've necked down many dozens & never lost a single case due to crushing.

The shoulder area of the FL die will gradually squeeze the 6mm neck diameter down to the .224" neck diameter for a smooth transition. I know it's very basic & probably not the problem, but wash out the inside of your die (plain old Hoppes) and thoroughly dry it. Then get a good light like from a mini-mag & look inside the die from the base & check for anything out of the ordinary. Make sure it's very clean.

Are y'all still having to neck turn to finish the process? Fixing to put together a 22BR.
