Forming 222 Mag to 6x47 Remington

I have 300 loaded 222 magnum rounds that I want to form into 6x47 Remington. Can these be formed by firing them in a 6x47 rifle? Does this damage the barrel?

You shoul not shoot them , they probably would not fireform anyway . No resistance , no pressure .

Shoot one. You'll then know the truth. It will not hurt the barrel.

Jackie Schmidt has been doing this for ever. He fireforms his 6ppc with 22 bullets in his 220 Russian.

I fireform my 30 BR in a 22 centerfire barrel. I took an old 22CF barrel reamed the bore to about .300. I ran my 30BR reamer in to chamber it. I fireform with a real healthy dose of Bullseye and a wax plug.

Butch ,That I can see working . I guess I'm just alittle to cautious , like how the heck can you guesstimate the bullets landing zone ? Anyway I just paid my liability ins . So all answers will be on the side of safety .

I only ream far enough at the .300 for the reamer bushing travel. Fireforming before expanding and turning makes you cases a little longer, about .010. I expand then and it takes a lot less expanding. I cut them to length and turn the necks in the lathe.

Butch ,I was refering to the OP shooting 222 in a 6 mm barrel . Accuracy would be nill , if any velocity is achieved the landing of the 224 bullet could be 1' from the muzzle , stuck in the bore , or on your neighbors target .

I fireform all the time , most of my shooters are wildcats . But I will not use a std load in a gun designed for another cal. Using COW or wax plugs over a fast powder is my preffered method , tried hyd, form but was not satisfied.
By the way I was at the range when a shooter used 243 w in a 308 win , guess what it almost fireformed . Almost .

it will work very well. still have to run an expander in to iron em out evenly. not too much copper fouling and very low pressure.
