I'm retired learning new stuff built a few ARs load my 9mm 45 acp 223s I did build a 7.5" AR never shot it,probably good to try subsonic in the small barrel. See how it works

TiteGroup burns very clean. Unique is dirty, but not as dirty as Clays or Red Dot. If you already have a powder then just use it.
I'll try the unique start with 3 grains then work up,5 tops depends on how it shoots. Unique is fluffy

I've run the titegroup loads from hodgdon. I've never had a problem with position or failure to ignite. If I ever find a cast bullet supplier for .223, I'm going to use cast only for these loads.

This is one instance where, as long as it is safe to do so, you may want to start with the heavier charge and work your way down to subsonic speeds. Be very cautious about sticking a bullet in the barrel. Account for every bullet on paper. Period. If in doubt pull the bolt to check that the bore is clear. Check several sources for load data before you pick a charge weight to start with. Do not , I repeat, do not start with a max load. Find something middle of the road to start with charge wise. Good luck and keep us posted.

I've never loaded down any AA# pistol powders. I've done unique and universal in 308 and 30-30, and they both work well. I do not chase subsonic velocities, though.

I don't think you will make subsonic using unique and a 55. It will either go too fast or stick. I don't see getting it slow enough. Don't go over 5 grains.

Tried 3 grains with unique didn't ignite, gonna try 4 and 5 grains tomorrow and I'm buying some titegroup ,I don't know why I'm making subsonic I guess it's just something to do, haven't shot the 7.5" barrel yet, something new

Tried the 3 grains no ignition the primer was struck, but no ignition I'll try 5 grains tomorrow if nothing happens I'll luck at titegroup loading thanks keep you informed

Got a question, do I need filler,if the primers not igniting, I read people use cotton for filler, also read dacron is what should use any help is appreciated. Thanks

Cast bullets in your 30-30? I’m waiting on an order of 170s from bear creek bullets now.
No, using jacketed currently, they work fine, I’m sitting on a pile of 170 jacketed 30-30 bullets. I wouldn’t mind trying cast though. It’s been a lot of fun, Marlin and He et both offered threaded barrel option which makes it to easy to get a can and go..

Pufflon or pooflon forget which is what some used as a filler years ago.
I never found unique to be position sensitive.
You might do some searching for old early loads with cast and make a decision there? I don’t know if you will have keyhole issue when going subsonic.
There was a fellow that campaigned Blue Dot for a bunch of stuff. I see he has passed away though.
I tried some book published loads with BD and found it to be very position sensitive in the two bottle neck rifle cartridges I tried it in, unless you chambered the round so that the powder was back against the primer.
Low pressure loads can be as bad as high pressure, so don’t think your in a safety zone.

be very careful of whatever type of filler you use. It can be an obstruction if you do it wrong. I use dacron from old dog toys my dog destroyed. In my 308 I use 1-1.5grs of dacron. And you DO NOT PACK IT IN THE CASE. You just stick it in a little at a time and let the fluff take up the space. If you pack it in it can act as a plug and it could be a very bad overload and run extreme pressures.

I am doing this with cast lead powder coated bullets. And using IMR4895 and Varget for powder. I am WAY beloy the load data you will find. But it is in the high 20ish gr area

I've used Unique for 30+ years in my subsonic .223 Contender. Never any problems. My load has been 5.5 gr. VERY Quiet, BUT the way to figure out your subsonic load is to start high & reduce your loads until you get "quiet" reports. This was told to me by JD Jones inventor of the .300 Whisper which I've used for many years (WW296).
I've never used a filer- no problems. Always use heavy bullets (they get unstable on the hit & tumble- the way they kill. Start with 70 gr. & increase until you get "quiet" & accuracy.
