For anyone using an AMP

I can’t take credit for this, in fact one of my shooting buddies is the one that found it and told me, but I don’t think it is common knowledge so I thought I would just post it here since it’s helped me.

If you have ever been trying to teach somebody how to use the AMP or if you bought an AMP Mate and want to practice using it or test your settings but hate having to actually run the brass you can type in code “0000” and the AMP will function exactly as it should but without any heat applied to the brass. This makes it really nice for doing any kind of testing of the actual machine or accessories without having to always worry about having brass to either kill or anneal in order to do it. Not sure if this was designed intentionally as a testing solution or if it’s simply because of how the programming is and since it’s not receiving a positive value it’s not applying any heat. Either way it appears to work and helped me play with my AMP Mate without hurting brass.

No I don’t use one but it’s a very nice looking unit!.... apparently those of you that do own one love them!

Considering I annealed more than 4,000 pieces of brass just last year for the single caliber I shoot, I’d say it’s a monetary value for me. I paid for the unit long ago as I’ve owned one since it came out. That’s what works for me, may be different for others.

This post was designed to help those who have one, not debate the merits of owning one. So I’ll leave my comments as below.

If you can afford and justify one then great, if you don’t feel it’s worth it then great and use a service. Both work for different people for different reasons and that’s ok and why we are all here.

Thank you sir! I'll try that tomorrow!

I Love mine and would never anneal without it! #2 item is the new Forester Tri trim trimmer, #3 auto scale, #4 Harrell’s 4-hole turret presss, #5 Dillion 550b and I had better stop as I am getting off topic...o yea...LabRadar....

I bought one a year and a half ago and aint used ot yet. Im dying to get somewhere where I can get a house with enough room to set up my reloading room again.

I have two Ken Lights that work flawlessly, maybe takes a minute to get setup but every piece of brass seems perfect just a few minutes and 50 or even 100 are done! I rarely do more than 100 at a time. On a totally serious note what makes the Amp so much better?....less setup time? Faster? I can’t imagine it Anneals any better. Always want better, faster and more precise stuff.

I dont have one "yet" Wayne but: being absolutely precise, no gas pressure variations, torch aiming inconsistencies, timing, those are large in my head, maybe overly so. The idea of no open flame also has its merits.
Costly, yes, about the price of a high middle range used scope or a custom action w/o trigger. How many of those do we have?
