Folks Using My Ultrasonic Case Cleaning Process...Please Look.

Take it from someone that has tryed all the voo doo mixes. Go buy hornady case cleaner or the stuff Frankfort arsenal sells. Fill the cleaner up and no glass beakers needed. In 16-24 mins your brass is clean. Inside and out.

I use a 1qt cleaner which was bought at McMaster-Carr and was being thrown away by one of my previous employers. I use an "Orange or Citrus" solvent to clean the brass. It performs beautifully. I have not found anything that works better and will not dammage the brass. http://oileater.com/industrial/cleaners-degreasers/orange-cleaner/ If I want the tarnish to be removed from the brass (if there is any) I add about 1/2 teaspoon of a water soluble soldering flux to it. It removes all the tarnish. At one time I used to use a little Ammonia but it damages the brass. I was thinking of buying a larger cleaner such as this one. The price is right but I am not sure about the power. https://www.harborfreight.com/25-liter-ultrasonic-cleaner-63256.html

Several have brought it to my attention that the Birchwood Casey Brass Cartridge Case Cleaner which I suggest, and use is hard to acquire, locally or mailorder). Because of this I have planned a fair sized purchase of the solution to help you guys out.

It looks like I should be able to get some to you for about 6$/16oz bottle + shipping, give or take 50cents.

If you are interested in purchasing, and are READY to PAY for it when I get it,I will let this thread go a week and place the order) please POST HERE as to your interest,<- that part is very important). PLEASE post the NUMBER of bottles you want, and I'll make sure I get enough to supply everyone that posts.

Thanks,
Jason
What’s so special about the cleaner?

Sodium Bi-sulfate is what jewelry makers use to clean scale off metal.

I just did an experiment.

1 gallon of White Vinegar was $2.99 at the supermarket. I mixed it with tap water 50/50. The tap water was 7 PH before I mixed. After mixing, it was 4.3 PH. So it seems like we need about 4 PH.

So, that mix is $1.50 per gallon.

I then went to Leslie's Pool Supply and bought 10 lbs of 'dry acid' (93% Sodium Bi-Sulfate). With tax it costs $25.49.

I tried various amounts per 100 ml of water (in a graduated cylinder). I started with 21 grains, and the PH was under 3.5. I did it over and over, and in the end, found that 0.4 grains per 100 ml was 4 PH.

So that means, we need 15 grains of powder per gallon to match the Vinegar mix.

So 10 lbs makes 4667 gallons.

$25.49/4667 = 0.55 cents per gallon (1/2 penny).

So Vinegar mix is 271 times more expensive than this solution.

You can buy 1 lb of Sodium Bi-Sulfate for $10 delivered on Ebay:

According to RSilvers that should make 467 gallons.....Easy Peasy

its available in the grocery section where canning supplies are sold, its used to maintain the acid level in old school canned tomatoes, loks of people use a product called lemi shine buts its simply citric acid, I use 1 oz with machine filled to max line and add whatever dishwashing liquid we have . you tube has several videos with guys using the lemi shine

the best in ultrasonic is citric acid and dishwashing liquid

I also use dishwashing liquid and Lemi-Shine (citric acid) in my ultrasonic cleaner and the same amounts I use in my STM wet tumbler.
