I'm trying to "focus the reticle" of a new-to-me BR-36X Leupold scope (with fine CH reticle) and am having a real problem with the Leupold instructions. I should probably mention that I've had much the same problem with all my Leupold scopes.
The problem I'm having is in seeing any change in the clarity or sharpness of the reticle when I turn the eyepiece focusing ring over a large range. I've started by turning the eyepiece all the way out (counterclockwise) and then turning it in in stages of about one revolution at each stage. There is such a long range of turns of the eyepiece that I don't detect any change in reticle clarity or sharpness whatsoever over quite a few turns, so am uncertain just where to leave it.
I don't think my eyesight is that atypical. I need glasses, but shoot without my prescription lenses on, and therefore set up the scope for that condition.
Any of the rest of you guys have this problem with the Leupold eyepiece reticle focusing procedure? And any suggestions beyond Leupold's as to how to get the reticle properly focused?
