FN Mauser 264 WM

I discovered a rifle locally and want to pull the trigger on it. It appears to be a Commercial FN Mauser. It's chambered in 264wm. I'm heading over to look at the rifle this afternoon and need a quick education.
I'm wondering if these came with a mag bolt face or if they had to be opened up to accommodate the magnum cartridges?

I'm also curious to know what I'm likely to encounter in terms of an OAL dimension of the mag box?

It's advertised as custom, so is there anything else I should be on the lookout for?

Weatherby originally built his first Rifles on FN Mauser Actions. They were all belted magnums.

If this “custom” feeds and ejects correctly, there should be no issues.

Mauser magazines handle 30/06 case lengths fine, and the .264 shares the same over all length.

Everything above plus I would borescope it . I used the 6.5s alot and it is a barrel burner . Sometimes with as little as 300 rounds you would see the excessive firecracking and burning in the throat. When reloading , it wasn’t uncommon to seat your bullet to a longer oal every 30-50 rounds .
Hunting gun should be okay but target rifles in these cal are to be examined carefully.

If a browning fn great guns tho they hobbled the 264 WM with a 24” barrel. If so be careful of saltwood!

I have a 264 on what is I believe a spainish Mauser . The thing shoots three shot groups you can cover with a penny with hand loads. Good luck with walking away once you go look at it! Lol

I had to pass. I measured the rate of twist at 1:10. I wanted it to work out, but 1:10?? The blueing was very deep and looked flawless. The stock needed a refinish but looked to be black walnut with very nice figure, It would have cleaned up well. Trigger was well tuned. I may regret this decision...or call him back in a week or two if it's still available.
