FN barrel problem what would you do

I bought a new FN barrel and installed it, after 600 rounds I could never get this barrel to shoot well
so I took it off and put the old barrel back on and it went back to shooting well again
well after a while I got a bore scope and thought I would look into the FN Barrel
This is what I found the begining of the lands are rough as a cob just on the right side
kind of a bummer this barrel was almost $400.00 bucks
what do you think?1.jpg2.jpg3.jpg4.jpg5.jpg

Your attachments don't work, But after 600 rounds, You are on your own I'm sure. Cut your losses and move on.
$400.00 For a barrel that has a cone breech, is threaded and has an extractor cut is a cheap barrel. I am assuming this is a bolt gun?

FN claims longest lasting barrel. We had rep in our shop saying they are the best Yada Yada.
Contact them for an RMA

I am in contact with them as of now they sent the pictures to the gun smyth and will get back to me
After all they do advertise the best barrels in the world and they do guarantee against factory defects. A gun smyth told me that what it looks like and happened during the plating process
they call them nodules and sometimes can be removed by electro polishing but not always
looks like something that slipped through quality control.
We shall see what they have to say.

If you have the interest you might try to shoot lapping bullets through there to get those pulled/torn edges to clean up. It may or may not work but it sounds like you would be out nothing to give it a try.
I have never tried them on a rifle but have used them on ruger revolvers in the past. No expert on this but here is what I would try...
Get some cast bullets or Tubb bullets already prepped. If you do lead you would need to roll them on a set of clean steel plates to impregnate the lapping compound. I would probably run a pistol powder on the lead and shoot for .002 over bore. Something along the lines of a subsonic load.

I recently sent a Beretta back for RMA that had similar issues. Looked like chrome plating flaking off. It too was low round count, around 300. Things happen, it's how the company handles it is what matters.

I'm not a big AR guy, but I have ordered in several YHM 5.56 barrels and have been impressed with the results my customers are getting with them. They are 4140 and Melonite treated, no chrome to peel off. I don't know whos' barrel they use, but they certainly seem to be GTG. AND AFFORDABLE, nowhere near $400!
