Flip Pallot passed, a life well lived!

If you don’t fish you may not know who Flip was. I watched his show Walker Cay Chronicles in the 80s and 90s on a regular basis. He’s really the reason I started going to Florida and Loisana fishing with a Fly Rod in my thirties and forties. He was a class act, an ambassador of fly fishing and conservation. He always had a classy way of expressing himself, his values and especially his love of the outdoors.

He certainly deserves a mention for a life well lived and for introducing so many to fly fishing, protection of habit and the joy of the outdoors we all know and love so much. RIP

Yup. Sad to hear. I saw that he had passed but thought nobody here would know of him. Watching his shows cost me a lot of cash and sent me on a lot of fun trips. Got me into saltwater fly fishing. Sailfish on a fly rod. What a hoot!

He was a good man. I had the pleasure of meeting him on a couple of occasions. He was a close friend of a Keys fishing guide we befriended and fished with often (Robert “RT” Trosset). The idea that became Walker’s Cay Chronicles was pitched to RT but he passed on the idea not thinking that it would become as successful as it was. We shared a few laughs about that one. Another contemporary of RT’s, that I had the pleasure to meet and fish with was Jose Wejebe, captain of ‘The Spanish Fly’. Jose was lost before his time.

Interesting! Jose had quite name in the fishing community too, didn’t know he had passed.

Sad to hear, I recently re-read some articles in Fly Fisherman Mag on Flip. He was up there with Joe Brooks and Lefty, I always wish I could have met him. I'm sure there are current greats in Fly Fishing today. As a 13 year old kid I called up Lefty to ask if he would help me , he invited for a Sat morning lesson on a local stream. I still have 3 popping bugs he tied and gave me. Brooks went on to help set up The Brotherhood of Junglecocks here in central Md. to help kids. I sure hope we have the Flips, Lefty's and Brooks today, they did so much for the sport. RIP
