Flavio Whisper Trigger vs. Other Premium Types

Not much talk about Flavio whisper vs b&a vs jewel vs shilen 2 OZ triggers. What's your like's and dislikes

I don’t have any experience with a B&A, but I do have experience with the other 3. I still own Flavio and Jewell (with plans to transition to only Flavio).

The pull weight on my Shilen would not adjust to the advertised 2 oz. I swapped it out for a Jewell and thought that was as good as triggers could get.

I bought a Flavio when I built a new rifle because Jewells were not available. The difference between the Jewell and Flavio was as big as the difference between Shilen and Jewell. The Flavio pull weight is significantly lighter than the Jewell and has a consistent break. If rifle weight is a concern, there is also a slight advantage to a Flavio over Jewell. My Flavio weighs 0.9 oz and my Jewell weighs 2.2 oz. It’s not much, but on a 10.5 lb gun every ounce matters. My only complaint with Flavio is potential wait times to receive one. I was fortunate and only had to wait 2 weeks.

I have Jewel and Bix & Andy. I like both. I might buy a Flavio.
You can take the B&A down to one ounce. They do have one quirk. That being, you better learn to take it apart and clean it as per Bullet Central instructions.

I know. People will say, “You’re not using a good bore guide”. That’s BS I use the best made, plus other protection.

Every time you cycle the bolt, there is enough of minute particles of crud that can get into the trigger. Over a couple of matches, it can accumilate.Unlike a Jewel, you can not flush it with lighter fluid. It is a sealed unit. You have to take it apart.

And how do you know when it’s “dirty”? Simple. It quits working.

The good news is the trigger is designed to be easily taken apart and cleaned.

There’s a YouTube video by F Class John that does a good comparison. Didn’t have a lot on the Jewel but did talk about triggertech.

I don’t see a lot of places to get the Flavio. Have I been looking in the wrong places? And Jewels out of business… at least for now.

I believe Bruno’s is the only importer of the Flavio in the US now. They are usually out of stock. They receive them in batches and seem to sell out in about a week. The best bet to get one is call and see when they expect the next batch.

I have Jewell, FF and B&A triggers.

Jewell's are good but do not have not aerospace parts quality control, tolerances, and build quality. As a result they lack consistancy. They have problems such as incorrect length screws that result in bent side plates which cause the sear to drag. I had a Jewell a friend gave me because the pull was ~ 0.6 oz and he never got the hang of it. I thought it was great. Arnold offered to replace it but I told him I would rather have another just like it. LOL

The Jewell's that work good are the best of class. FF and B&A triggers are in another class. They are different machines with tight machining tolerances and ball bearings, and excellent build quality.

I don't have enough time on a B&A to discern it from a FF, they are both very good.

Basically Jewell is out of the picture, period. That said I like both bix and Flavio, edge to Flavio for me.

While I liked Jewells the problems they had where made worse by the "blueprinting" people did. The real issues came from the sear surfaces. Thats what created a great break vs a poor one. You could flatten the side plates and polish them. You could also flatten and polish the internal parts. Aside from a very slight drag on a stone to take off a high spot all this did was create more side to side play in all the internal parts because they are now thinner. That means they can register differently every time they engage the sear because theres so much range of movement. I have had to just scrap some Jewells do to this idea of "blueprinting" which simply ruined them. Dont get me wrong, a light stone to take off any burrs and a re cut of the sear made them very nice, but thats not what happened to most. Most people paid to have clearances increased and pull consistency decreased. A bix also has to be tweaked, but its a 5 minute job. The Flavio is a well made trigger. Reliable. But for me its an acquired taste I have not acquired yet. I am used to feeling a sear break and just cant get used to a Flavio.

Like Alex mentioned the Flavio has a different feel. No wall, they just go off at the set weight. It took me quite a while to get used to it but I do like it now. If you like light they can go under 1oz safely without falling off or having an AD if the rifle is bumped.
