flash holes

I have always bought my BR brass ready to go for my chamber..
To Save some money I'm doing it myself and the question i have is should i open up my new Lapua 6BR flash holes. On my other lapua cases the flash holes look to be a tiny bit bigger.

If Lapua changed the size of there flash holes on BR brass, its news to me. However all other calibers of brass have the large flash hole, but all BR brass has a small hole, and you dont want to change that.
Also the BR depriming pin is smaller, so be careful.
Its my understanding that with Lapua BR brass you really dont need to do anything to the flash hole, but look through it once to make sure its there. I do neck size all new Lapua BR brass, to make the neck and mouth round, and the correct size. Too many case necks get dented in packaging and shipping.
Mike.

NO-ONE opens up LAPUA flash holes if they like tiny little groups....
Except for a few folks that are segregating them so they are all consistently the same size holes.. The new brass is pretty consistent as it is, and there is no reason to open them up for any other reason that I can think of.......

sinclair sells a flash hole reamer that opens it up from
.060 to .0625 so the decapping pin doesn't get stuck
should I NOT use this..

thanks guys, I'll leave them the way they are plus this saves me 40 bucks on the tool..I might be able to get myself 400 extra primers now..:D

Mason, the earliest batches of Lapua 6BR brass had 0.060' flash holes and thus there was a need for the tool. I have one and used it quite a bit at that time. The 6BR brass imported for the past few years has had correctly sized flash holes,0.0625') and the tool is not needed. A simple test is to see if your decapping pin slides freely through the flash holes - if it does, they're fine.
