FL vs Neck Sizing / Again

Answer: Uniformity and consistency of the brass. You appear to have a controlled and regimented process of preparing your brass carefully and identically, yet now you want to shortcut all the previous careful steps you took to control a variable????

Something I have not heard anyone talk about recently. You may be spending hours measuring and weighing components but since there is always clearance all the way around a cartridge case in the chamber, the case lays against the bottom of the chamber, not centered. Look in the tech section of this website at how the top shooters prep cases. They are not always obsessed with measuring things. At least 50% of your results are the shooters skills, not how anal you are at the loading bench. You have to be ruthless at evaluating what you do at the range.

That is not what it is about in long range BR. If you don't weigh , measure and load things right you will not win much. I size my cases hard and they fit the chamber loose. When the bullet is in the lands it aligns the case. Matt

REALLY?????????????? So you profess that your chamber is not perfectly round and your cases sit on the bottom of your chamber......If you are satisfied with that setup, then you completely miss the point of of precision reloading. And yes I am well aware of my talents as well as my handicaps, not to mention the limitations of my equipment. And I stand by what I wrote as it works just fine for me and the results I get on target. I never said you have to agree. But I do find it interesting that you claim my procedures are "anal"and yet you go 3/4 "anal" yourself and then shortcut one of the most important steps to achieve uniform brass. Good luck with that. Each to their own I guess.

I've always used the phrase "hotdog down a hallway", at least I thought we were talking about sized case to chamber fit lol.

Tom

How about "elephant down a hallway"? True story: At John Ascuaga's Nugget casino in Sparks, NV, there was a circus elephant opening act in the Celebrity Showroom, for many decades . The oldest elephant was Bertha and her ostensible "daughter" was Tina. The elephant trainer who put them through their 20-minute show carried a disguised cattle prod to encourage them if they were not up to scratch. One time he zapped Tina and she panicked, performed "exit, stage left" and wedged herself in a hallway leading to the dressing rooms. Of course the real fun was just beginning for the crew, as you can well imagine.
