FL resize ?

Need advice from more experienced shooters.
I talked some years back with a gentleman from Sinclair about reloading, he advised me to full length resize by brass over neck sizing . He recommended sizing back about .001 - .002 . I’m measuring with a Stoney point head space gauge . Primarily 20 VT and 17 Hornet .
What do you all think about this ?

Will be fine if you are having problems(bolt harder to close) chambering fired brass. My hunting/varmint ammo needs to chamber easily. That can be 0.001-0.004 depending on the rifle and the time of year it is used and HOW CONSISTENT your sizing results are. AR's require slightly more clearance than bolt guns, especially in the winter.

Most top shooters that I am aware full size their cases. The key issue here is learning how to do it properly, so you don't over size the cases but size enough to produce reliable chambering.

There are numerous threads on this forum that address this issue plus a number of excellent video's detailing the process.

Watch erik cortina on youtube. All the world champions FLS. The key is not to bump the shoulder too much.

The VT will probably benefit from FL sizing with a little bump-back. The Hornet probably will do best with just a partial neck size. You may have to experiment with your Hornet to see what gives the best results but most Hornet shooters just neck size and the brass lasts a lot longer.

Winchester brass and annealing everytime FL sizing will help tremendously with the Hornet
