Fitting A BDL Floorplate In Fiberglass Stock

When you fit a BDL floor plate assembly to a stock, should you leave some clearance between the end of the rear tang and the stock?

You definitely want some clearance around the entire perimeter of the floor plate. If it's tight anywhere, it can be the cause of subtle stress. Bedding the bottom metal to the pillars is always a good idea, especially with the factory pot metal floor plate.

Just did one today. A .015 feeler gauge fits all around it....enough so it rattles around freely. -Al

Mine has .010' all around and I thought that was sloppy. I was intending to bed it to decrease that by about 50% but was wondering if I should leave more at the ends.

I've seen stocks that have been bedded tight behind the rear receiver tang push off a chunk of the bedding behind the tang. I have not seen much discussion about what happens on the bottom of the stock.
