First Time Using A Bushing Die

This is the first time using a bushing neck die,Redding)and I would appreciate any help. Do you allow the die to contact the shell holder? I have some of the mica dry lube. Would that be better than conventional lube? How do you adjust the die if you do not contact the shell holder?

Any help would be appreciated.

The Harrells FL bushing dies come with a neat little shoulder bump measuring device as shown in the pic. You want to set the shoulder back about a thou. Hornady/Stoney point makes a tool for doing the same job for more money.

Iset the body of the die to not touch the shell holder but just above it. My dies,Redding) allow the collet to be adjusted down the neck and I adjust the collet down until I get the collet to size all the neck except for .050" of the neck.

Thank you for your response.

rayjay:
How do you remove the sizing wax? Just wipe the neck, use a solvent, or tumble?

Travelor:
How do you know when you are .050 from the neck? Use a conventional lube and watch the grease ring move down the neck?
