First groups shot in 40 years!

Recently purchased a LV 6PPC, Bat DS, Kreiger,Jewell,Larson wood stock with a Leupold 45 and have been preparing cases (seems like an eternity and fingers hurt!) so I could shoot my first groups in 40 years.

With case prep everything went fine but still a little apprehension as to OAL and neck thickness etc..

First 5 shot @100 was .176 for 4 shots and then went to 1/4" with the fifth! Overall agg for 100 rounds was about .3" and these were fireforming/first timers.

No drama no blowing myself up and you can bet I am one happy guy! Got the bug again.

I think you are one of those people who once they have nailed something down, they don't lose it! That is EXCELLENT shooting, especially after such a long hiatus! I am glad you are back!

I started shooting BR when the Visalia range (Dale Wimp) was first built with the help of Dennis Thornberry, Mel Iwatsubo, Lee Six and Harvey Miller as my 'smith. This was back about 1975 and I was a youngster trying to compete on a shoestring. I learned some tricks but the important trick was never become too proud or complacent!
Riding high one moment and shot down the next.

Probably won't compete as I don't relish the long hours driving to the matches but I still love trying some new idea against the real world to see if it works and there is nothing like the suspense or 4 in one hole and sending the fifth downrange.

HI Lefty,,sounds like you have a first class rifle,,,,it is nice to know that you made it thru those "40" years, ,,,prolly like me working ( lots of OT) and raising 8 kids,,,,it dont take long for fourty years to dissapear,,,,I too have learned to be happy shooting locally or at home in the "back yard" rather than travel with all the health issues associated with the "golden years" ,,,,dont waste your time with cheap bullets or worn out barrels ,,,you deserve the best,,,,Roger
