Yes, and the left wing nut jobs, that live in lala, land have no idea what they can do because they only see that they are cute and fuzzy. But when they are in your barn or bean field thay are not so cute!Friend of mine had just bought a house with a large wood shop beside that had a cement floor. He was spending all his time getting the house fixed up and didn't pay much attention to the shop. The hogs had dug under the cement all over and finally after couple wks the cement gave and cracked. Had to all be repaired cause he had heavy wood working equipment in there. I had to put heavy screen all around my barn cause they were getting under it. I thought I was getting them all but can't see behind the barn from my house. They sure can do some damage and real quick.
Lived in Louisville for 20 years and did a lot of hog hunting over there. I moved to NY and the farm were over run with them! Hunted one apple orchard up on the lake Ontario and shot 100 hogs the first year! Hog Heaven!!I've gotten a couple here in KY last week. The weather was sunny and in the 60's and 70's one day. Now it's back to the 30's again
On most years I will kill 4 - 6 young ground hogs a year from the neighbors barn 75 yards behind my house. My 22 rimfire killing range. I don't know how far they travel but kill one and in a couple of weeks one takes up residence in the old den. This I know because I fill the holes in after each kill.Friend of mine had just bought a house with a large wood shop beside that had a cement floor. Oh my, i thought I had it good! WOW. Letchworth state park in NY State is a really beautiful place is has the Grand Canyon of the east. It is also crawling with G-hogs. Used to take girlfriend, there is a really neat restaurant in the park. Boy I wanted to hunt hogs there! LOLStosh
I was stationed at Ft. Devens in central Massachusetts during the mid 80's. Groundhogs we're every where up there. I finally had to break down and bought a Remington 700 ADL in 222 Rem. I would volunteer for ranger patrol all the time. Knew all the range officers and MP's. So I got supplied with a camo blazer ( before the Humvee )and paid to drive around and shoot groundhogs all day. Fun times for a young man.
WOW thats great! I am so jealous!! I just started hunting with a handgun two years ago so I could extend my season into the "alternative weapons season" for Deer here in Missouri. I bought a savage striker in 308, installed a 2-8 Leupold EER pistol scope and and my score is three for three. 50, 80 and 200yds, I am currenty looking for a 223 handgun I can use durring off season! Here is one diehard ground hog hunter and all were shot with handguns! Life time number of ground hogs.

Spike, where you at in NY? I lived in Rochester and hunted around Dansville and east around sodus.First woodchuck hunt of the year in western NY for me, pretty good population. I’ll report back on how the day goes.![]()
Awesome! I live in Canandaigua, today I was hunting in Phelps. It was cold today with a 15-20 mph cross wind, chucks came out early and quickly retreated from the wind.Spike, where you at in NY? I lived in Rochester and hunted around Dansville and east around sodus.
Oh yea, I hunted some big dairy farms just outside of Dansville. Great people I really miss the chuck hunting up there. I retired several years ago from Xerox and moved back to Missouri where I grew up. The taxes and winters were too much. Grat people up there have lots of friends up there. If I was stil there I would invite you to hunt with me. Good luck!Awesome! I live in Canandaigua, today I was hunting in Phelps. Yes, and I don't hunt them this early normally, I was doing a favor for the farmer who was going to poison them. I checked with game warden and he oked it.Maybe if the is mom and pops, the cubs in the den,

Great people for sure and farmers are always eager to be rid of woodchucks. But you’re right, with the snow, ridiculous taxes and even more ridiculous gun laws I completely understand why you left.Oh yea, I hunted some big dairy farms just outside of Dansville.
