First F Open build - load data suggestion

Building a 284 win F Open. I plan to shoot 180gr Berger HT.
I have both H4350 and H4831sc.
Any suggestions for where to start load development with these 2 powders.
Thx

I use h4350 in my 284 f open rifle with 180&184 bergers in Peterson brass. I would start at 48 grains and work up from there. You will probably find your node around 2800 fps give or take. I haven't used Laupa 284 brass yet and don't know how much difference there is between the two.

180 hybrid target
H4350
Shoot 4 shot groups from 49.0-50.6gr in 0.2gr increments
Look for three groups in a row that all impact the target in the same place and hopefully fairly small groups. Look for velocity nodes between 2765-2820fps
This will get you really close and if I have to guess I’d say you will end up selecting something very close to 50.2gr.
Shoot ALL of these charge weight test rounds at jam minus 0.020”

My experience is the Peterson brass has a LOWER internal volume.

All good advise^^^. Also try 4831sc. For me, 54 grains @2815 fps with Lapua brass. Experiment beyond the .020 jump. You may be surprised.
Richard, perhaps I should have clarified in my statement above that finding the proper charge weight should be done all at the same seating depth (I personally use jam minus .020”). After I find the suitable charge weight, then I will load that charge weight in .003” increments from Jam, to jam minus .030”. I guarantee there will be three seating depths in a row that all group nicely and have very similar POI.

Ive been using N165 in my 6.5-284 for years. I found a bunch of guys that are using H1000 in some of the 6mm match rifles cause it is way lower on the temp chart than 4350 and the like. I found i could not get enough H1000 in the case to get velocity I was looking for. I looked at the temp chart they were talking about and found that N165 was even lower on the chart than H1000. but it would make speed. By all means use the N165, its clean, its low temp, and it will make speed. The only downside I see with it is availability, and cost.

Are you shooting these 4-shot ladders at 100 yards?

These powders shot well out of a 30” Kreiger barrel. I hear the n555 is very popular as well. Have you considered the Shehane? E
