We finally got the motorhome to Ohio Sunday evening. Monday was busy with getting settled in, visiting family, and going to a Little League baseball game.
But today I got out with a friend to do a little groundhog shooting. The first one was at 446 yards and I missed on my first shot. I reduced elevation by .5 MOA from my range card as I expected the shot to go high. I didn't take the time to sight in and adjust from my 100 yard zero in NC at sea level (we're at 1000' elevation here in Ohio). I just missed low and the groundhog jumped and ran in a couple tight circles. The second shot nailed him.
Next up was a pair at 191 yards. They were this spring's pups with the first one shot with just his head out of his hole. The second one did a two foot high back flip when it was shot. My friend got a big chuckle out of watching the aerial show. (Love those 105 Amax bullets.)
And to finish the evening, I got a shot at one at 858 yards. My friend and spotter said elevation was perfect but I missed right by a foot. My fault - I forgot to account for spin drift and a light breeze. I should have had 1.5 MOA dialed in on the windage.
Thank you, Preacher. I am happier than a clam at high tide with this chambering.
