Well I have finally made up my mind on a caliber and it will be 6mmBR but I have some questions that have probably been asked a million times but the search wasn't getting me anywhere and it's easier if I can just come back to this thread to read answers.
I am building this rifle to learn about and practice long range shooting but I will also take it out to the gopher fields to see how the learning and practice is paying off.
First question
Barrel length smith recommended 26" 1-8 twist,105gr) to get good velocity but also make it portable. Would like it to be 1000yd capable when my skills make it possible to shoot that far
Second question
Cut rifling,rock/krieger) or button rifled,lijia/shilen) those are the brands available to me,not in USA)
Third question
I have 100 Lapua brass on order and am trying to find CCI 450 primers. I will have some 105gr Berger's ordered shortly what is my best choice in a powder to start?
Forth question
This is what Iam ordering for dies will this work ok.
Forster Bushing die set WITH 3 bushings, BR Seater and Redding body die
I have requested that the reamer match the lapua brass is there anything else I need to know for this build?
It is a Remington 700 Short action converted to single shot McMillan A-5 stock with 3 way adj. butt. jewel trigger. optics at this point are looking like a Nightforce.
