First 6mm Br Build

Can't wait till spring. Here is what i used,I used a Winchester Model 70 LA,Single shot follower Kreiger SS 24" barrel 262 neck, 6mm BR, 1x14 twist, Canjar Trigger, HS Precision Stock that was bedded to action, Williams SS 1 piece Floor plate, Leupold quick release bases and rings, Leupold 24x boosted to 36x fine cross hair retical. The smith said sould use 70gr. Bullets well. I do a little paper punching and a little varmint shooting. If I Like it I plan to do a 22x6mm 40 Degree 1x8 27" barrel on a Remington 700.

look on Bench rest central at the 66 to 68 gr. bullets. some of these may get the last couple thousands out of your rig. I personally recommend Watson 66 gr. Barts is making them now with the original dies. A bit pricey at 1000, but you may be able to talk him out of a few to try.

Remember this: Gene Harwood, former NBRSA Director, set a 100 yard World Record shooting his own 60g Bullets in a 24" 6 BR at 3700 fps using H335. In my friend's 6BR, the 55's scream at 3800+ fps, 60, and 65's all shoot bug holes with H335 using 7 1/2's.

I took the 6 BR shooting ground squirrels with the 60's. I noticed that the ground squirrels just disappeared at the sound of the shot! After I had shot about a dozen, my buddy was spotting for me, thinking that the squirrels were ducking the shots. Well, they were not. My buddy finally saw a squirrel rug floating down from way up high! The load in my rifle was 33.5g, work up to this load in your gun starting at 31.5g

Gene told me that his load that he sat the World Record with was 33.0g, but you know how lot to lot variations in powders are, so that is why you have to work up to these loads.

Several things that is very wierd about H335, you can fire 100 rounds down the barrel, remove the bolt, and the bore looks as if the gun has not been fired once you find your accuracy load.

Another thing that is very wierd, the groups tighten up as the temp goes up, so you end up shooting a very warm load, which is not a good thing if you are using Remington brass).
