First 1000 YD Benchrest Shoot at Manatee

On 12/28/13 the Manatee Gun Club held a 1000 YD IBS type shoot. This was my 15 yr old Granddaughter Alex's first competition shoot. Mind you she has never shot anything larger than a .223 for a distance of 100 Yds. We had winds of 5-11 mph. She shot 7 rounds of practice before starting the competition. Her first 10 shots were 15.5 " with 2 bad trigger pulls. Her second round was 7.7 ". I'm so proud and amazed by her accomplishment. She won Heavy
Gun and Finished 2nd overall.

We are shooting under their rules with time limits. We are trying to make our range where we can hold IBS matches. Larry

Grandpa there is a couple programs such as rookie of the year and high women shooter that could give your project a purpose. If you want to push it that far..or just have fun.

I don't think you'll have a ghost of a chance to be affiliated if you misrepresent the facts. You sir, are diminishing the good faith of the IBS and other competitive sanctioning bodies. I believe you should delete this thread! This is not even legal.

This shoot is NOT a IBS shoot. We shoot under the rules they have . We are practicing with all the requirement they have. For what reason I have no idea. Larry

Congrats to the granddaughter and her granddad, both!

Just delete the references to "IBS" above, no big deal, and let us celebrate both of your successes!!!

And please, keep her shooting BR and out of F-Class. I already have too many good shooters to worry about without adding her to the list!

Yes it was a Brostrom gun. With a RAS Tuner Brake. Friday I tested and set the tuner. I had 3/8 vertical. I took the vertical out with just the tuner. Larry

I don't think there is a better self confidence building sport for girls out there (than shooting sports)... The change I see in my girls when they shoot is fantastic!! Don't matter rifle, shotgun or bow!! ITs a win win....
