Firing pin strenth or tension

Do you guys know the BEST technique to use to get the right relationship between firing pin fall strength and
the least amount of effort required to raise your bolt handle, thus re-cocking the firing pin on a BR
bolt action rifle?

I don't know the best way but if you come up with a scheme that allows the use of various tensions to accomplish various needs try marketing it similar to what the 1911 ACP custom spring makers ploy, I'd be interested if it works. I tried clipping springs in my younger years with some success but there is a point where primer ignition can be affected and cause accuracy problems up to the point of misfires. Most of the time it is better to stay with the norm and just grease the high stress areas or lap the contact areas for more surface area to ease the load caused by the spring's pressure. The current trend is longer bolt handles which may help but I doubt that will be the best solution.

Knowing of which BR action you speak will help

I'd suggest a 20-22Lb mainspring & insure firing pin/sear hand-off w/ a minimum of approximately .200 pin travel.

My thinking is that reducing the firing pin springs preload will increase your lock time and negatively effect your accuracy.

Mr majestic,I did a long action savage with a lift kit which adds about .120 thou to the bas(big screw in the back of the bolt) which in turn adds spring tension. So as a experiment,I machined .125 off the big screw bringing the spring pressure back to at least stock tension. It cocks very smooth and have had no accuracy problems.I have shot some real impressive groups with this .260 rem chambering.I seriously doubt we can tell the difference in lock time unless you are David Tubb.LOL I know I cant. Anyways thats the way it worked out for me.
