Firing Pin Spring

I have been getting the odd flyer, not every group but enough to put one out of the group occasionally .

Rifle has ~1 000 rounds on it , Tikka T3 Tactical 300 WM.

Thinking it may be the firing pin spring, so ordered two, one is a standard spring the other is 10% stronger.

Questions, could this be a spring issue or something else ? If so what benefit in going to the stronger spring?

It could be the fp spring. Its a simple and cheap thing to change and see if it solves the issue.

Both my Tikkas have shot very well but had the same issue from time to time. I chaulked it up the bedding system and their tupperware stocks. You might want to look at that and checking action screws, especially if the stock is tupperware.

I have had the receivers faced and rebarreled both with Rem style recoil lugs. I no longer have the flyers.

Thanks for reply, the action is bedded to a McMillan A-3-5 stock.

With 1000rds in 300 Winch, You may be looking at a new barrel. I had a barrel go out between 1000 and 1100 rds in the middle of a match. I was young and dumb at the time :-)

HaHa, that had crossed my mind, lots of fire cracking etc. Last club outing this rifle held 0.77 moa at 500m but has been down into the high 3's when it was much newer. I think I'll go with the standard spring to see if it has a positive effect.
