Firing pin spring for .590 diameter bolt body

As I find it next to impossible to get the info about a replacement firing pin spring for a Nesika Bay model R, I am wondering if there is currently something of similar size (.590 diameter bolt body) that I could find?

After many unsuccessful attempts to contact Nesika Bay, Dakota Arms and Remington over a few years I've given up. Something to do with the fact I live in Canada, maybe...

Any and all help appreciated,

Gale Stewart

Try Chad Dixon at Long Rifles Inc, he used to work at Nesika and should be able to point you in the right direction, if you haven't already tried that.

What are the dimensions on the original spring....length, wire diameter, helix angle? I thought the R's were a .700 bolt body? -Al

It would be hard to tell as it had taken a set, then I added a spacer bushing to restore some umph and is now back to being borderline so I guess it has taken even more set.

The model R is the shortest, lightest action, smallest loading port designed for .223, PPC and BR cartridges. Bolt body diameter is .590 measured.

My hope is for another make with similar dimensions, I know there are some older Panda’s with a .687” diameter bolt, maybe, just maybe there is something of same size...

I should be able get a hold of Mr Harrison from Defiance next week.

The Barrett Fieldcraft has a .590 bolt diameter as do several of the NULA rifles like the Model 20. You might try NULA and see what they have for length. The Kimber 84's have a .580 bolt body so there's another possibility.

Wolff makes replacement springs for both the NULA and the Kimbers. I'd get in touch with them for some dimensions and go from there. -Al

Here are a few measurements:
3.65 free length
33 coils
.044 wire dia.
.284 OD
.113 pitch
As for helix angle, I don't know how to measure it.

That's very close to the spring measurements on both my Sako A1 22PPC and Interarms Mini Mauser.
The bolt O.D.'s are only .550 on both but it seems logical that the Nesika may have a thicker walled bolt body.

Hopefully Mr. Harrison will be able to assist is what they used for a spring source.....hopefully a commonly available spring that was available.

Keep us informed, ok? -Al

As a follow up to this thread, I was able to order firing springs for my Nesika Bay model R from Parkwest Arms. Allegedly, it is the same spring as the Nesika model K.

Parkwest Arms is the former Dakota Arms manufacturer operating under new ownership and management.

Many Thanks to ScottVA for the tip and to the nice lady at Parkwest Arms for her help.
