Fireforming 6PPC with IMR4064

I have a big can of 4064 and I would like to use it when fireforming my 6PPC. It's burn rate is much slower than the normal 6ppc powders and my gut feeling is that I cannot get enough 4064 in the case to have pressure problems.

I looked up some old loading books and the OLD 6x47 [ 222mag necked up to 6mm ] listed 25 grs 4064 behind a 90 gr bullet. 25 grs of 4064 is most of the way up the shoulder but not quite into the neck.

Anybody want to chime in with some additional insight ?

Thanks

I can't help you with the 6mm ppc but I was going to use up a 20 year old can of IMR4064 in my 6mm BR. I found loading data that said it took from 30.0 to 32.0 grains for the Sierra 70 grain Matchking. Started out shooting 30 grains and started fire forming. After a while I decided to up the load by .5 grains. Then things started to get interesting! I started to get three and sometimes four shots hitting one hole. :thumb:After a while I even shot my first five shot one hole group at 100 yards! Measured .447 inch!! May not be much by benchrest standards but it was my first in 20 years of shooting!!1 Have since shot others but that was my first!;)
