I have a 243AI coming home soon. I have read a little bit about the cream of wheat method. I was hoping some of you guys have tried this as well, and if you have could you share some of those little tricks? Any info would be great!! Thanks Lee

Any primer will do. Good way to use up your oldest primers. Start with 10-12 grs. Bullseye, eyeball the Cream of Wheat to the shoulder junction then with a 1/4 square piece of toilet paper plug the neck so the C of W doesn't spill out. Really load, I tried it off the back porch once, too loud for the proper neighbor relations. Generally the shoulder doesn't form real sharp. Slightly rounded is OK. It will get the proper sharp shoulder on the first full power firing. The idea is to make a false shoulder so slightly rounded is OK. I have used up to 30 grs. of Bullseye to fireform 338 Lapua IMP. Another good thing to have your gunsmith do is to make an elongated steel insert for a single bbl. of a break open shotgun. He chambers the insert then you just put it in a break open shotgun & fireform away without anything going down your match bbl. Having said all that I have found that fireforming Ackley versions is very accurate. Was pretty disappointed on my first Ackley when it shoot so well fireforming. I was expecting 'hummer' performance with fireformed brass. Speed was up but accuracy was about the same. PM if you have further questions.

Your new 243 will shoot so good with fire forming loads it's a shame to not use them
on live targets. You'll need to break the barrel in, sight the barrel in, and you can't do that with cereal ........
