Fire forming brass

I was wondering if folks could shed some light on a few questions here:

1. I just fire formed 100 Lapua cases and am starting to prep them for their second loading. I am now using Wilson dies and am trying to use all the care I can. Should I expect to see an increase in accuracy on this second batch of loads due to the fire forming process? To be honest I have never see one before but then again I was always using standard dies and junk brass and not a BR!

2. On the new brass I debured inside and outside necks well. How many people continue to debur inside necks on second reloads in NO length trimming is done ? Looking at them with magnification they seem to still have their bevel. Do I need to debur again. In the past I have always done so but now I'm wondering if that was best practice?

Frequently, fire formed loads are quite accurate. However, after two or three firings, the brass has expanded enough to form a close fit to the chamber and should produce best accuracy. This assumes your dies are also a close fit to the rifle chamber and your reloading process is without fault.

Probably not necessary to debur if no trimming, but I do lightly run them over inside and outside just to be certain no small burrs or powder burns are present.

I've found that the deburring done after first trimming tends to round and soften with time... which I think is a good thing. Rather than an angled cut you get more of a smoothed, radiused entry.

As to best accuracy... you never know. The best group my 6BR ever shot was an 0.156" using brand new unsorted brass, fire-forming load. Round count 15-20 in the barrel. The only thing I'd done to the brass was run a mandrel through the necks.

by deburring every time, you will notice that bullets will start and seat easier. if you do not debur inside and outside, the case mouths will tend to become "square" as when new because brass "flows" toward the case mouth. you DO NOT want to deform the pressure ring at the base of the bullet when you seat them.
