Fire form before neck turning?

Is it nessasary to fire form a new case before neck skimming it. I was only planning on removing .0005 to .001 of material just to clean up the necks.... It is on some new Nosler brass that averages .014 to .015 thickness.

No, but they do need to be run into a expander before they can be turned..

Thanks.... yeah, im aware of that, Im still waiting on K&M to get my 7mm expander shipped to me..... I guess they are on back order.

since you dont need to turn your necks first--sounds like you have a no turn neck--you can fireform first. if you had say a .265 neck, then you would have to turn first.
