Finish Options Stainless BAT Action

I ordered my last BAT action, and ordered chromolly, had BAT bead blast it befor bluing for a beautiful matte finish that perfectly matched the Leupold scope. I had the bead blast the rings and send them out to anidize, once agin beautiful finish.

I am now hooked on this color sheme, and am in need for suggestions. I found an BAT stainless action and want to have it coated with rings to match Leupold matte finish. I have heard of Ceracoat, and know there are many choices of colors, but has it been out long enough to learn of its durability.

Thanks for your ideas and suggestions. The action is a BAT MB with DS parts, I bought from an outstanding board member savageguy.

i had a sako 75 action coated with a mix of graphite and black and it was pretty sweet.

How durable do you feel the finish is? Target rifles get used year round, and are not as seasonal as our hunting rifles.

I feel its durable... Probably not needed on SS action though unless you are trying to match the Leupold scope.

Yes, matching is what I want to do.

I haven't seen a Duracoat finish that matched a "blue" finish yet. Some come pretty close but not there yet. I don't know about Ceracoat. You could have the scope and rings painted to match everything else, but make sure the painter knows what he's doing there.

Look at Cera-kote midnight purple. It matches the blueing very well.

And yes, Cera-Kote is impressive. I've done quite a bit of it.

There is a LOT of ceracote being used on high wear parts such as 1911 frames & slides. They wouldn't be using it if it didn't hold up under considerably more wear than you're going to put on a bench rifle.

Could you shoot me a photo of your action. I just ordered from bat a bead blast melonite coated action myself with flat black anodized rings to match. Very curious to see what they look like. mardiv@bellsouth.net
