Finally made it fishing!

Have not been fishing in over two years. Decided to go for a couple of hours this afternoon. No bass boat, no lures. Just a couple of reels and some red worms and crickets sitting on the bank. Had a ball.

With the help of my old friend, Jack, View attachment 1177730I should have these cleaned in about an hour.

Life is good!:)
Mmmm ! Catfish are one of my favs. Been crappie fishing but water temps still in the low 50s here. Fish aren't spawning and haven't even got on beds. Later this week it'll get much better. Boated a few nice bass tho. Couldn't just leave the bass gear at home.

Nice fish. You got enough to stink the grease up.
Crappie spawn has been off and in here. One of my buddies has been catching them but he does year around. Best I have seen with a jig. He has been trying to get me to go and I probably will this week. Need to run the bass boat.

Gentlemen...
I realize everyone has different tastes for most everything, but as far as fresh water fish , the only ones I fish for are the ones I eat. That would be...Walleye, perch, gills . Canadian Northern pike are good tasting as well. That could be attributed to the possibility of cleaner, cooler water. Just my opinion...

Yep our mild winter turned into a long colder spring here. Crappies usually are on beds by now. 20/30s at night set us back since I caught that last small bunch of keepers. Bass are slowly coming in but not like usual. Smallmouth are better in colder water but just haven't been north looking for them yet. Heading up tomorrow for some Smallmouth/ walleye action tho.
