Film: Highend longrange scopes

Have made 4 films about LR scopes now, here is the first one...

Blog 12, High-end longrange scopes

The emphasis in these films are the shooters angle and user friendlyness. ALL these scopes gets the job done, but they have some similarities and differences in the details and your own personal preferences would decide what scope can be labeled "best". The perfect scope doesn't exist, you'll have to do a compromise somewhere - be that economy, magnification, reticle, turret, optical quality, sturdiness...

In these films I've set the SuB PMII 3-12x50 as the benchmark for comparison. Not because it is "best" (it isn't!) but because SuB is one of the manufacturers who was early in recognizing the needs of professional LR shooters and putting together a products that supports shooting in high stress environments. First focal plane, MIL reticles and MIL turrets, plenty of adjustment and suitable magnification...

For technical details, consult the manufacturers websites...

Thanks for Best quality clips ;)

Thomas,

I enjoyed this video (even if I'm an MOA type of shooter).

Also liked the Picatinny rail video. Nicely done.

What camera do you use to shoot the video?

Ackerman does great work. He blueprinted by T16.

Not really sure on the PMII 12-50 windage, the model seems to come in so many versions and I dont have the scope on hand anymore.

Everything is filmed with a Canon G9.
Glad you liked it :)

Why you think .025Mil clicks is not optimal? ??? Is it no good for precision shoot?

Thanks for that :)

The 0,025 MIL adjustment is not optimal for LR shooting as described in my video blogs, the main arguments for that opinion being:

- The clicks no longer corresponds directly to the reticle if you're using a tactical reticle suck as P4 or mildot - then your clicks should be 0.1 mil so sight corrections are very easily made.

- You're going to do a lot of clicking (4 times more than needed) without any noticable gains in practical accuracy. For my shooting where I'm switching between targets that might have a 4-500 meters difference in range 0.1 mil clicks is again king as I just need to do two quick twists on the turret.

0,025 mil click is not useless, it's just a speciality item that should be used for speciality purposes and not allround LR shooting.
