Film Dip for an adjustable cheek piece stock...

I had my McMillen F/TR stock hydro dipped by Tactical Graphics in Melborne, FL. They did a great job at a low price, but best of all they had a turn around time about 1/4 of what other dippers quoted me. I asked for a two-tone base coat, which they did perfectly. They dipped with cheek piece seperately and I didn't ask them to attempt pattern matching, so there isn't a seamless match of the alligator scales, but I didn't expect that.

I'm just guessing, but I suspect that pattern matching might be tricky given the process involved, but I don't know for sure. I wonder if dipping the cheek piece along with the stock would give you a continuous pattern if you're willing to have the underside of the cheek piece painted. Ask the folks at Tactical Graphics.

Anyhow, here's what it looks like:

Thank you. Just the answer I needed. It appears the stock could be dipped in one application, if the cheek piece is cinched down snugly; then use a razor blade to cut along the line.
This assuming you had a pattern you wanted to match.

AND that you dont expect the underside to match as well. My manners hand painted stock has the pattern match both the cheek piece and the underside, that cant easily be done with the application of one film. If you dont mind it being a base color underneath then I imagine there shouldnt be much of an issue dipping them together. .
