Ffl transfer for silencer

Advise please. I asked how much for a silencer transfer and this was the reply.

“I charge a 20% transfer fee, minimum of $100.00 for lesser priced suppressors.”

Is this a very high fee? A $1200 can would be $240 bucks. That seems very high to me.

Shop around if you can. Lots of FFL dealers that will do transfers for less.

The cost to have a class 3 license is much higher than a class 1. He will also have to have it in his possession and store it while the paperwork is processed. All that cost money he needs to cover.

What Walt says. Not just any FFL can make transfers of Class 3 items.

Yes, as an 07/SOT I agree with this completely. That said, I will transfer NFA items for $100 because it is the market rate in this area. Also, keep in mind on transferable MGs that start at $10k and go up these days, you have to carry insurance, in the event something happens to it while on transfer.

Any FFL can transfer NFA items. The FFL is a license to receive firearms across state lines. The special tax is a tax paid to deal, manufacturer, or import NFA firearms and allows them to transfer tax exempt between SOTs. If both parties are not SOTs or a government agency, it transfers tax paid on a form 4.
