Federal Gold Medal GM205M Small Magnum Rifle Primers

Federal Gold Medal GM205M Small Magnum Rifle Primers. Does anyone remember Federal packaging these primers as magnum rifle primers? Are they actually magnum primers? I don't remember Federal offering small rifle magnum primers? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When in doubt call the factory. Seeing as they are called magnums,I suspect they are magnums.

Man, that was awhile back. I bought a slew of them one time and thought I'd have problems but a call to Federal confirmed that the primers were, in fact, 205M Match, not Magnum, primers. If I recall that was about the time Federal switched to the larger boxes.

I bought a 1M box of Fed GM205Ms several years ago, and found that five of the ten 100ct boxes inside were marked "Magnum". Don't recall now where or when I bought them, but haven't seen any of the magnum-marked boxes since. Actually, I'd like to be able to get these on a regular basis to use in 6 & 6.5x47s.

Hmmm I wonder if it was just difference in labeling, not the actual priming compound mix. I've got a few thousand in the basement, old type packaging I think, I'm gonna have to check my boxes out. :o

I had a sleeve or 2 of the "Magnum" primers that I used while riding the crest of IBS VFS competition. Later bought another sleeve of 205M's & the label then said "Match" primers. They looked the same & shot the same, so figured it had been a misprint of magnum proportions & management decided not to throw away all the mis-printed packaging.

I have used the 210 M primers and make sure I mark all my ammo packages "MATCH" which is what the factory packages call em.
