Federal 205 Gold Metal Match Magnum Primers??

I recently bought some of these, heck, I didn’t even know they made Gold Metal Match MAGNUM primers.

Any body ever shoot these. I am going to try them in my 6PPC this week end. I am hoping the only difference is a harder or thicker cup.

Couple years ago I picked up two cases of Federal Gold Metal Small Magnum Pistol Match primers.

First I ever heard of those too.......

The marketing folks tend to get their way with things at times, so their use of the word "Match" and "Magnum" can be very loose.

Jackie, I used to have some of those back about the time we both shot at Rachel's Glen. Can you remember that far back. From my experience they were just mis-labeled 205M.

The Gold Metal Match MAGNUM primers were the earlier Federal 205M primers. These are from about 2008 and the most commonly used primer for the 6ppc.

Federal rates their SR primers 205, 205M for 5.56 use, but they have a .0225" thick cup as apposed to .020" standard pressure SR...but the others use a .025" cup thickness, which are Win & CCI, #41, CCI 450, Br4, and Rem 7 1/2...along with some foreign primer manufacturers with .025" mil spec cup thickness.
I'd try them as see how they do ...

I also posted that I had bought small pistol magnum match primers that I had never seen before.

I haven’t shot anything but standard 205’s for years. I expect these will be fine. I got 5000 of them.

Thanks for the reminder of us shooting at Rachel’s Glenn. We sure had some good times. I loved that 200 yard 4-Gun Format.

It’s all gone now, even Brady and Mickey.

they are the same as todays 205m. I still have acouple of K here and mine were priced a 17.50 a K

When I bought those, there was no such thing as Federal Match, but the 205M is what virtually everyone shooting larger matches with a 6PPC was using. As I recall, they were called Match primers.
