Amazing. A judge with an actual conscience and some integrity (with respect to the RKBA). Maybe.

I wonder if it's all effectively a ruse in order to get something in-play, to all but assure something substantive will get appealed all the way to SCOTUS. As part of the plan to take advantage of the seeming RKBA tolerance the SCOTUS justices seem to have with its current makeup.

Similar assault weapon restrictions have previously been upheld by six other federal district and appeals courts, the state argued. Overturning the ban would allow not only assault rifles, but things like assault shotguns and assault pistols, state officials said.

Clearly, they're making this stuff up as they go along. The ubiquitous, power-mongering State, I mean. "Assault pistols"? Good lord.

One has to wonder, though. If they're even mumbling words like "assault pistols," then they're attempting to get the ducks in a row prior to a full assault upon the tatters of the RKBA that still remain in California. Not that that should be any surprise.

Kudos to the judge in question. Irrespective of the motivations to level such a ruling against such laws.

About 5 years ago the 10 day wait was found unconstitutional. They immediately tied it up in court and I have no idea where it is now. I expect the same will happen with this.

Actually the 9th said the California magazine ban was unconstitutional a year or so ago....don't know what happened after that.

Easy now I cant swim anymore, this same Federal judge allowed us gun owners to buy hi capacity mags in 2019 for about one week before the attorney gen rushed to the ninth circus to put a stay, we called it freedom week. on line retailers were asking their customers to be patient because they were giving high volume sales to california priority. Love judge Benítez's scathing view of California's gun restrictions.

Ca is just an amazing state in which to visit and recreate.
I have friends that live in CA and they shoot ALOT, and often.

I visited Death Valley CA in Feb. 2021
Camped in the middle of nowhere & then on to to Panamint Valley, CA.
