Fed 205 Match primers?

LGS has some so picked them up. Only SR primers in town that I have seen. How are they compared to Rem 7 1/2? Do they have a relative hard primer cut or are they soft. Can I use them in gas guns or should I stick to using them in bolt guns? I use to use them in a 7mm TCU and 7mm BR in IHMSA, but that was a long time ago.

Thanks

They're pretty tough. I had a couple bricks from years ago that were labeled as Gold Medal Magnum Primers. I've shot tens of thousands of them and the only problem I ever had was from one that got seated backwards and oddly enough didn't go off. They were always my go to primer for 30 BR.

They are not as "hard cupped" as the Rem 7 1/2 or the 205 Match AR Version but I'd place them as Medium and I personally would stick to using them in a Bolt Gun. - The upside is you probably could trade them straight across for CCI 41's or 7 1/2's to someone.

There's a feature story about rifle primers at the Accurate Shooter home page. Lot's of good info about rifle primers (read them all).

I've found the 205Ms on par with BR4s and have better results with federal vs. Cci in my AR. Surprised to for me those who say use only 41s in an AR, but, ok I guess.

Any cartridge with small rifle primer. But some bolt guns may have the odd FTF due to the firing pin spring being tired or weak from the factory.

Factory Rem700 Tactical bolts/firing pin/spring are plenty strong to never have this problem.

Same thing with Savage... only the m10 /110 with black bolt bodies have strong firing pin springs and can guarantee no problems with cci34/41's. Savage chooses weaker firing pin springs for their hunting rifles to give the bolt less effort when opening/cocking.

At least that's been my experience.

When testing the 205 in my 223 bolt gun they got 30fps slower vs rem 7 1/2 with everything else the same. The gun was sighted in with the Remington primers. At 300 yards the 205s shot 3 inches to the right. But still grouped good. Sd was low on both. I just stuck to the remington 7 1/5. I use the 205s exclusively in my 6br and 204 ruger with good results.

thanks I was just curious I have some thought I would try them in a F12 6xc savage just to play

I've tried the Fed. 205M AR in a 6mm BR, the CCI 41's I haven't tried yet, I was lucky enough to get a case of them from a shop owner who had a bunch set back. - I plan to load them for AR ammo to run in a 5.56 AR Pistol and in a regular DMPS Sweet 16.

No mark up, just a straight up deal no tax no hazmat no problem
