favorite loads??

Im new to reloading and the 204, does anyone have a good load for a Rem 700 24" barrel 12 twist.

35 Bergers are usually the go to bullet in a 204 for accuracy. BC is not that good but quality trumps BC out to 300yds anyway.
Seat them at 2.265. No idea why but that seating depth simply works for most every one who tries it. That depth will give you lots of jump. Don't sweat it. In most factory chambers seating into or near the lands does not gain anything.

One favorite 35gn load that many have used. Work up to 26.6gns of Benchmark. I'd recommend doing so in .1gn increments. BM has very small, sometimes fussy but very accurate nodes.

A favorite of mine that has worked in just about all my barrels is 29.2gns of Win 748. Once again work up to it. Many folks complain about 748 being temp sensitive. I've never seen it but I generally do not shoot if its 20 below or 120 above. LOL
I also never leave ammo cooking in the sun no matter what powder I use.

Favorite primers: Fed 205 Match. CCI-450.

Have you shot factory ammo through it to see what bullet weight it prefers? Thats always my first step. The 204 cannot be force fed components it does not like.
If it likes 40gn factory the 40 Berg will be better.
32's or 39's try the 35 Bergs.
Accuracy comes in a yellow box.

thanks alot for the great info, I think I will have many more questions.

I tried hornady 32's and it did pretty good, couldn't find 40's.

Im mounting a new scope 8x32, once I get it dialed im gonna try some sierra 39 BK's, with hornady brass, cci 450's and varget,a friend said to try it) How much should I start with? I will try the other powder for sure. Thanks again!

35 bergers give me the best accuracy coal i found good was 2.252 with 28.0 grains of imr4895 hope this helps u out
