Favorite gun/shooting writer

Reading articles by the late great Skeeter Skelton got me started in handgun hunting and shooting 45 years ago, I Somewhat feel like I’m carrying on his Legacy every time I pull the trigger
Bottom feeder -

Howdy !

Right now.... it's " Fredo " and " Snert ", whose writings about Fredo's wildcat work are the best as anything gun-related that I've read ! Superb pictures are included, and I can relate to the whole wildcatting / varminting experience. They hand it to you as if you were standing right there with them at the bench; on the range' and in the field. And, they show real world results from the use of Fredo wildcat(s). All-in-all just superb !

For decades, a long-time favorite writer has been Homer Powley.
Homer knew inside / outside ballistics well...... inside & out ! Powley was superb at relating technical and math-related internal ballistics principles to the average shooter; yet also could teach the highly experienced ones a thing or 2.

I'm on my third copy of " Guns & Ammo 1974 Annual " , which has an extensive article in it titled " The Powley Papers ". These were excerpts of tech writings and articles Homer had written over the years; and provided a treasure trove of useful info.

I wore out my first 2 copies of " The Powley Papers ", hence my needing #3.

I also liked Skeeter Skelton's work, and my 45+ yr of carrying an "N"-frame
.357Mag can be easily traced to having read Skeeter's writings, also Bill Jordan's; and from my having seen " Magnum Force " when I was 19 y.o.

Mike Venturino His articles are always in detail and interesting even when not in my area of interest
Layne Simpson He is also good with detail. In fact Shooting Times has an article up by him now
titled "A Close Look at Laupa and SK Ammunition".
I grew up reading Elmer Smith and Skeeter Skelton. I credit them with distracting me from finding a single niche in shooting. I still have a 6" Mauser Luger I bought in the 70's (a run by Mauser on original Luger tooling). Skeeter had taken a junker Luger and put a heavier 6" barrel on it and milled a dovetail in the toggle to hold an MMC adjustable sight. It was impressive and I was a young dreamer, but mine stayed original.
