Fast twist ppc loads

I played with 105 class bullets with a 8 twist 6ppc. I did not find it competitive shooting matches to 500 yds. I do much better with 68 gr. bullets in 13.5 twist. At 300 to 500 yds I could not get it to group small consistently.

I tested H4895, Varget and XBR8208 over the chronograph to see which one gave the best velocity with Berger 95 grain VLD's. This was in a 20.5" barrel with 13.5" twist. Of course every bullet key holed but I wanted some data. Varget was too slow and couldn't fit enough in the case. XBR8208 maxed out at 2806 fps. H4895 reached 2854 fps at reasonable pressure.
I have a fresh 8" twist barrel finished at 26" ready to test when the weather gets closer to match conditions.
Expect to gain a bit from the 5.5" longer barrel.

try an 87gr berger and xbr in an 8 twist

does anyone have a long memory? about 25 years ago a fellow done pretty good with a ppc at 600. i think he used 95 bergers.

Stuck a 12 twist Krieger on my 6ppc bench rifle.
Loaded some 80 grain Bart's using IMR8208.
I tried the usual N133 and H322 but the IMR out performed them quite a bit.
Same here, but with a 6 Grendel. H4895, Benchmark and N135 all showed promise with 80s, though. In fact, BM was my go to powder until I got a MASSIVE lot to lot variation with it. Still has promise but that 300 fps variation in lots scared me. Of course, I had just bought 24lbs of the stuff!
Yes, 300 fps! It literally went from hot to blowing soot below the shoulder, with nothing but a lot change!

I read the listed (most of it is very good) thread, it had a response that is often seen but is the reason those who have not done something should keep quite and listen as opposed to spouting off about "something they read and heard." There is a reason God gave us two ears and one mouth. Sorry for the rant but way to much is offered as advise buy those who never did it. Pet peave and there is more and more of it.

Question about Lapua brass life in 6PPC/6ARC/6AR at bolt gun pressures (59-62KPSI). How much case growth do you see per resizing cycle, and does the brass ever "stabilize" in length?
What is case life expectancy at these higher pressures?

Thanks

Please see your other post on this subject. I replied there before I saw this.
