Farley rest

Farley's website is www.farleymfg.com

Unfortunately the phone number is hard to see. Try this:,405) 732-7852

Thanks.

I was thinking about using this for prarie dogs.

Is there any advantage over the Sinclair rest with windage top that I already use?

With the Farley rest, it is much easier to adjust the horizontal placement of the crosshairs while remaining in a "ready to fire" position, so you can probably get a shot off faster.

With a conventional front windage rest you have to reach forward. Many people find this takes them out of shooting position, unless you have reall long arms.

Also, if you close your left eye while aiming, it is easier to use the joystick which is right there where your hand can't miss it.

See this picture. Note how Jerry Tierney is "steering" and aiming at the same time, with his cheek-weld and shoulder-weld in place:

So the stick is only used to control horizontal?

I thought it controlled both vertical and horizontal. Hence the name co-axial.

Maybe I shoot funny but I can utilize the windage adjustment on my rest without getting too much out of position. At least that is how I remember it. I am probably recalling this incorrectly and will try it out when I can.

Thanks for the info. I am just not sure if gettiing one of these will be useful on a prarie dog hunt.

Bobby.
The range of the Farley rest at 1000 yards is about a 10 foot radius. Meaning anything in a 20 foot circle at 1000 yards can be shot at under less that one second, without changing your cheek weld or head position. It is the best rest I have used...The resolutions is about 0.001" or less than 1/8 minute of MOA..

Bobby, you're right, the Farley moves both Horiz. and vertical axes with the joy-stick. I hadn't mentioned the vertical because conventional rests can adjust vertical very easily with the rear-most screw. Some guys even have a "quick-cam" to go between sighter box and record target.

Also there are still many successful bag-squeezers out there that adjust there vertical but moving the stock in the ears.

Nonetheless, it is an advantage with the Farley that you can ajust both axes of movement with one control, and I should have mentioned that.

Jerry,

Am I reading you correctly here?

It sounds like the rest moves in a non-continuous motion, like the clicks on a scope? I thought it was smooth continuous movement.

Don't have one but shot off one. It is a great rest once you get used to it. Takes about 5 minutes and then you either love or hate it. Funds prevent me from owning one. It is very smooth, very well finished rest.

Thanks for all the replys.

I placed an order for 2 coaxial II rests. One for me and one for my father in law.

I will report back when I get them.

Hi,

I have a Coaxial II and am loving it. Always had a Sinclair with windage top but our tables are not the most stable. The Farley let's me keep my weight in the same place and still move in both directions. Very cool rest!!!!

4570sharpshooter,

These are kind of pricey. I got quoted a $740 price not including shipping.

One great thing about this rest is the 100% money back guarantee. I was told to try the rest out for a few months and if I did not like it that they would refund my full purchase price. Can't beat that kind of a deal. These rests must be so nice that they are able to offer this type of a guarantee.

Hope this helps,

Bobby

I just received the Farley rests and am very pleased with what I see so far. I have only one cosmetic complaint so far. They JBWelded two threaded inserts for the screws that push the sides of the bag in and this was not done very well. Perfectly functional but it looks like a kid did it. Again only a cosmetic issue.

I have not been able to try it out yet because of the weather and time constraints. The movement is smooth so I expect I will love using this rest.

Thanks to everyone for all the info.

Bobby
