Farley Mfg

I bought a used farley a while back here on the forum. I had decided to upgrade some of the old parts on the farley, upon asking around i was told “good luck” suggesting poor customer service. Because people are more likely to speak up about bad customer service than good i figured i would write this post.
It did take about four attempts to get an answer on the phone, (part of dealing with a small buisness i suppose) however when i got an answer i was pleasantly surprised at how prompt and helpful mike was. He took my order, gave detailed instructions/suggestions and told me he would make my order up and ship it the next day. He came through on time with everything as promised as well as typed instructions with hand written notes and pictures to reiterate what we had talked about on the phone. A+ customer service in my book. Give mike a call, great guy.

I may give them a call,,I need a firing pin spring removal tool and a trigger hanger for the older Farley action,,

it is one smooth fast running action but I think I need a new spring installed and would like a spare trigger and hanger..

I bought this from the ads here and is the Farley action glued in a Terry Leonard stock and with Tim Claunch keeping me in a supply of barrels it is a very accurate rifle,,

would you PM me the # you used??

You can use a remington tool and getting a trigger hanger made as busy as they are??? Those were one off actions but they may have a hanger.

you saying that a regular Rem 700 firing pin spring removal tool will work on the Farley bolt??? I would be sick to booger it up and still not be able to change the spring,,

I will assume it was tuned like this on purpose,,it is a BR/PPC boltface and will extract/eject both cases 100%,but when trying to use the CCI450`s in the 6BR loads maybe 1/2 to 2/3rds will actually go off,,and about 1/2 of the ones that dont fire will fire on the 2nd try but the rest wont fire at all,,

the Fed 205`s and 205 GMM,,WW WSR will fire 100% on the first try in 6BR and 6PPC,,

I’m cheap.. make most of my tools myself. I could change it for ya more than likely. Most are based on a 700 but sometimes the custom shrouds cause problems with 700 tools.

Well Mike was that way to me the 1st couple of times then it went down hill from there. Give it time and you'll change your opinion of all three of them guys. It's too bad that they have to constantly lie about sending stuff when the truth would do.

Well, it seems they are going out of business. Their service standards are now at an all-time low. Mike says he will send something out the same night...and doesn't. Several times this year. And now their phone has been disconnected. Really a shame as their products were decent. They just never really understood the value of just doing what they said they would do. The good news is that there's always Sebastian

mr.big, when you check the trigger out, make sure that the little cutout in the hanger is in the rear so that the firing pin sear clears nicely. Ask me how I know about this. After fixing this little problem the rifle was very reliable with BR4's which are about as hard as any primer. The spring may need to be changed and maybe a little heavier spring installed. I have/have had several of the early Farley actions starting with # 028 and they have been good to me. I have also experienced "Farley time". Jim & crew are great folks, and like others, I just don't know why they operate as they do sometimes. Some of there delivery problems are related to supplier issues, but certainly not all. The one problem I have never gotten fixed on my actions is the short firing pin travel which Jim engineered in to make the timing such that the actions run faster for the group shooters. This does make the firing pin energy marginal for the harder cup primers. BTW, I have always used my Remington firing pin removal tool on my Farleys with no adverse results, but some of the actions have a different shroud & that tool may not be appropriate for them.
