Hi folks, this isn't so much of a what's wrong thread as it is a I shoulda known better.
Reloading .308 hornady brass for a 1956 savage model 99 with a kreiger barrel. H4895.
When originally loading and testing over chrono, ~30 degrees. Shooting yesterday at 75F got flat primers and failure to extract. All measurements between factory and reloaded brass exactly the same, just made them a bit too hot apparently. Chrono was 2700 flat at 30F, but 2850 in the sun at 75F. Was very surprised by that considering the powder as it was intended to be a low-power load.
For the record, my savage shoots about .250 five shot groups with a featherweight barrel, leaving about one minute between shots so i am, in fact, on the correct web forum.
So I'll be pulling bullets and reformulating the load as it is a hunting rifle and my wife always needs two or three follow up shots...
