F3 milling machine for sale

Very tempting. With it being a combo vert / horizontal, I didn't notice a way to tram the "Y". Did I miss it?
That Walhaupter sure brought a smile to my face. Keyless chuck also.
But, can't a decent BP II be had for same if not less?
The 3PH kinda kills it for me.

Table swivels and a VFD takes care of the three phase. BP can be had but is not the same type of beast. On a BP the head nods and swivels while on this mill the table nods and swivels. It’s an extremely rigid and precise mill.

Every mill youd find for sale will be 3ph

These are very nice machines....perfect for garage/tool room/gunsmith ..... comes almost fully tooled....toolingnis what kills ya on any machine....

The 3hp motor if driven from a VFD will loose 1/3 of its rated HP , but 2HP is plenty.....

If you feel this is a scam.....find a member on here t hst is close and have them go and look at the machine.....if it's on the up and up go for it.....

Not true. You're thinking of a phase converter, not a VFD. VFD will deliver full power. A phase converter essentially disconnects one of the three motor windings and powers the other two from the split-phase input source. The third phase is only used during starting when the converter shunts some of the split-phase input through a capacitor to shift the phase angle enough to get the motor turning. A second or two after starting, that phase is dropped completely giving you 2 of 3 phases and the aforementioned loss of 1/3 power.

55fairlane and GenePoole, a modern VFD loses no power and neither does a rotary phase convertor.
The Swiss machine is very nice, but has limited travel in the X&Y axis. The add on vertical head does not have power down feed. I would have one as a backup to my 2 Bridgeports for smaller work. The Swiss machine that I used did not have quill travel to allow drilling or other machining operations.

Ive never felt like i was short on power on a bridgeport running a static converter. Never noticed the difference in 480v 3ph and 230 single phase with static running them on the same day at work and home
