F/TR stock design?

Ok guys I got a question on the length of the forearm on a stock for a F/TR rifle. What are the opinions on the length of the forearm? Is there a minimum length? Any other things to look at? Or is it mainly preference?

Thanks

Having made a variety of mistakes, and suffering the rifle handling problems associated, let me give you what I've learned.

First, length is a function of flexibility and material. The last thing you want is a "springy" forend. The rifle will jump in the air under recoil regardless of everything else you do. The shorter the forend, the more sensitive the rifle will be to handling errors. For a bag squeezer, a long stock is a good thing up to a point.

Second, the pivot point of the bipod needs to be as close to the centerline of the bore as you can get it. If that means building something that looks pretty wild, do it.

Third, weight and balance is important. be sure you can get it to balance where you want and make weight.

Last, but not least, if you intend to do any load development off of the bench, do yourself a favor and build a bag rider or adaptor as you build the stock.
